Your gut is your second brain

Whenever people come to see me about depression, anxiety, emotional heaviness or that feeling of being completely flat where your drive is gone and your spark has disappeared, I always guide them to start with one thing. Their diet. I know this is where everyone rolls their eyes because it feels hard. It feels overwhelming. It means leaving the comfort zone of old eating patterns. But the truth is simple. What you put in is what you get out. Input equals output. You cannot expect a clear mind, balanced emotions and a vibrant spirit when the body is struggling to break down the very foods making you feel heavy.

Our gut is our second brain. How we feel, how we think, how we cope, how we respond and how deeply we experience depression or anxiety all begins in the gut. When the gut is inflamed, the mind is foggy. When the gut is unbalanced, the emotions become unstable. When the gut is overloaded with parasites, worms or old waste stuck in the colon, it steals your serotonin and your joy. You cannot rise when your gut is weighed down.

I am very fortunate to be surrounded by women who specialise in this. My beautiful sister Eleanor Foster NaturaLee is an expert in gut cleansing. We are all unique beings. What works for me may not work for you. There is no one size fits all. Your blood tells a story. Your gut tells a story. And when you listen to that story, you give yourself the chance to heal on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.
