When I’m at the gym and I see someone who is overweight, truly giving it their all, I always make a point to smile, to greet them, or to offer a word of encouragement. Because I know how much that moment can mean.
For many of us, even when we lose one or two kilos, it can be difficult to notice the change in the mirror or feel it in our bodies. Now imagine how it must feel for someone who carries a lot more weight, to show up, to push through the discomfort, to move past the fear of judgment, and to keep going day after day. That takes incredible courage.
Each person you see in the gym is there for their own reason, working quietly toward something that might feel impossible to them. A simple smile or kind word can remind them that they are seen, that they are supported, that they belong.
We never truly know what someone is carrying, or how much strength it took for them to show up today. Your small gesture of kindness could be the reason they keep going tomorrow.
So next time you are at the gym, take a moment to look up, smile, and acknowledge the people around you. Encouragement goes a long way, and sometimes, it can change a life.
With love and respect for every journey 💚
